Cycle Touring – Seat
Despite the short term comfort offered by soft seats, most long distance cyclists tend to prefer harder and narrower seats. With men there is often concern about chode compression. Although there is speculation that pressure from a bicycle seat can cause erectile dysfunction or reduced performance, this is most likely urban myth. It is not a common problem with long-distance cyclists.
For those still concerned about chode compression, there are companies that manufacture seats with no front post, which transfers the weight to your buttocks. These seats, however, reduce driving power of the legs.
