Almost 300 people have rowed across the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans. Some records that stand out are:
First to row across an Ocean:
Norwegians George Harbo and Gabriel Samuelsen rowed across the Atlantic from New York to France in 1896.
First to row across an Ocean in the twentith century:
John Ridgeway and Chay Blyth of Britain rowed from Massachusetts (Cape Cod) to Ireland in 1966.
First woman to row across the Atlantic Ocean:
Kathleen Saville, USA, rowed in tandem with Curtis Saville from Morocco to the Caribbean Islands, 1981.
First woman to row across the Atlantic Ocean, mainland to mainland:
Julie Wafaei of Canada rowed from Portugal to Costa Rica with Colin Angus in 2006.
First to row across the Indian Ocean:
Anders Svedlund of Sweden rowed solo across the Indian Ocean from Australia to Madagascar in 1971.

Silvia Cook and John Fairfax of Britain were the first to row across the Pacific Ocean from San Francisco to Australia in 1972.
