Colin rowed an impressive 89 km today, and thank you to those who reminded me that I forgot to mention his mileage yesterday. It was 65 km.
As I watched Colin’s impressive progress today, I thought he must be feeling better. But his phone call set things straight.
“It was the most painful day ever. [...]

Day 11 - still going
June 30th, 2011 5 Comments
It’s day 11 and Colin has made it to an island near Bamfield. Haines Island is uninhabited now, but old buildings and an orchard remain. It is also the where Voss and Luxton, who in 1901 set off to canoe around the world in their dugout Tilikum, spent a month after getting hit by a [...]

Live map not updating
June 29th, 2011 No Comments
For those of you closely following Colin’s route, you will have noticed that Colin’s tracker stopped sending updates at 7:45 this morning. He had been rowing for just over 3 hours and came into Schooner Bay. He send me an okay message using the tracker, and I think that shut off the tracking device [...]

Day 7 - almost half way there
June 26th, 2011 7 Comments
Colin has another long day behind him. It’s day 7 of his row and he’s travelled a total of 539 km. Just over 600 km to go. The region he’s going through is absolutely stunning, and he’d love to return on a more leisurely trip.
Tonight he’s camped on a small beach on Nootka Island. [...]

Colin has rounded the corner. He reached his most northern point this afternoon and is now camped in Cape Scott Provincial Park. The weather was less than perfect today and headwinds slowed his progress, but he still managed 69 km.
I’ve never been to Cape Scott, but after listening to Colin rave about the scenery [...]

He’s hoping to complete the circumnavigation of Vancouver Island in less than 16.5 days, which is the impressive [...]

It’s been quite a month for Colin and me. The Amazon tour was a huge success with packed venues and sold-out shows. It was fantastic finishing off in the Comox Valley with a final sell-out. Thank you to everyone who came out!! Now, we have to focus on our upcoming expeditions.

April Update - Happy Easter
April 22nd, 2011 1 Comment
Here on the east Coast of Vancouver Island temperatures have been rather un-spring-like, meaning the foliage and flowers are behind schedule. Perhaps the cooler wet days have been a benefit for us, as a lot of people have been ducking out of the rain and adventuring vicariously through our recent Amazon River [...]
